Pushing the boundaries of what design can do in times of global crisis, this work was recognized by Fast Company 2021 Innovation by Design Awards.
Tactical Design for Pandemics
This study investigated the current strategies being deployed in response to pandemics through real-time analysis of design interventions in five focus areas and across the United States, Italy, South Korea and China. The team leveraged learnings that stemmed from unprecedented circumstances introduced by the pandemic. Adaptive solutions were forced to be rapidly implemented and prototyped in real time, suggesting new solutions to existing problems. Teixeira views these emerging solutions as “archectypes,” some of which will become more permanent elements of our infrastructures.
